Exercise for Natural Anxiety Relief

Natural Anxiety Relief: If you’ve ever had a panic attack then you know that you’ll do almost anything to avoid having another one ever again. They are both debilitating and frightening. Sometimes they can even make you feel so out of control that you are scared to even leave your home. Some people even get anxious about having another panic attack! This creates an endless spiral of panic and fear which can make you feel like you are in a prison and can drastically affect your quality of life.

There are a number of treatments for anxiety attacks including medication and therapy. While both have their benefits, some people are weary of taking prescription drugs. One of the best and most recommended treatments for natural anxiety relief is exercise. If you are physically able, working out can transform your life.

Exercise helps rejuvenate your body’s systems. When you exercise you release positive hormones into your body. These endorphins alter the brain to create an incredible sense of well being and calm. This alteration can mean less anxiety attacks as well as improve your overall health.

Exercise helps your body manage stress in an effective and positive way. Scientists and the medical community are still not sure what exactly causes a person to have an anxiety attack. They figure there are many things that contribute to panic attacks including genetics, predisposition, habits, stress, health and life situations. When you exercise regularly you improve your health as well as your body’s ability to manage stress. In short, exercise helps to eliminate two of the potential causes for anxiety attacks.

The Most Effective Types of Exercise for Anxiety:

Most people want to be able to measure how effectively exercise is helping their problem. While exercise is not guaranteed to cure your anxiety attacks completely, it can help you reduce attacks and perhaps eliminate them because of the positive effects they have on your brain and sense of comfort.

Here are some tips about what kind of exercise you can do to help elevate anxiety, and what kinds.
I find that walking is the best way to start if you do not have a set exercise routine already. Simply moving your body each day is important. It is good to take about 10,000 steps a day, whether that be jogging or walking. Most people walk about 1-3 miles a day just doing everyday activities, so walking an additional two miles is not as hard as one may think. It really helps to have dogs for this occasion, as they always give you a reason to get more exercise. Plus their love and affection can also provide a great form of natural anxiety relief.

If you can’t get 10,000 steps in each day, then spend 30 minutes a day doing some other form of movement therapy. Stretch, do yoga, swim, dance, jump rope, or ride your bike. Do whatever it takes to make you feel better.

Is exercising a complete anxiety cure? Not necessarily. But it can better help you deal with anxiety disorders, stress and depression. It will also improve your overall health, and improve your sense of well-being. All of which, help reduce and maybe even eliminate panic attacks.
